Become a member


The AVEC association is an association made of local authorities (cities, communities of cities, counties, regions…) belonging to different European and Mediterranean countries members of the Council of Europe. 

To apply for the AVEC network,  you are invited to: 

  1. Inform the association of its will of being taking part to the network by filling the Statement of intent form.
  2. Prepare an application form (the file is available on demand to the AVEC secretariat – or by phone: +33 (0)4 90 49 35 21 / +33 (0)6 06 71 96 05).
  3. Send the application form to the president of the association, accompanied by a deliberation stipulating the commitment of your community to pay its annual contribution to the Alliance of Euro-mediterranean Cultural Cities.

To become a member of the Alliance of Euro-mediterranean Cultural Cities, you must meet the following criteria: 

  • Being a city or territory situated in a European country.
  • Deciding to get involved in the Qualicities approach which translates the charter of the AVEC network and the values and objectives of its members,
  • Being available to regularly participate in cooperation activities and network meetings,
  • Paying the annual membership contribution.

The selection procedure is the following: 

Analysis of the application and decision made by the board of the association after the reception of the application.

The application is definitely validated once the decision is made by members of the Board and the applicant is introduced to the members during the General Assembly (March or April) or the board of directors (September or October).
